Getting video up on Youtube

Post by ozover50 »

I need some assistance, Forumites! I have a non-copyright DVD of my band's debut performance and I'd like to get a track or two up on Youtube.

The DVD is in DVD format (not .avi, .mpeg, etc) and I'm trying to rip it from the CD/DVD player in my PC to the hard drive and convert it to a suitable format. Is there any software around that I can use to do this? I have Magix Movies 2go on the PC but it seems it will only import DVD format from an analogue source - i.e. direct output from an external DVD player.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Image

Howard: I have not done this, however, you might find some interesting ideas here.

Working on it Greg!

I had to buy the full blown shareware product in order to download our whole set rather than the 30% the evaluation copy gives you. So far it's taken just over 2 hours to convert 40% of the clip - which is 28 minutes in total. Then I have to edit it!!

Patience, brother!! Image

Cool. It looks good, but I have no sound at work, unfortunately. I'll give it a listen tonight.

PS: That's a lot of guys to cover a tune by a trio. Image

Tell me about it, Greg! The program coordinator admitted to stuffing up the numbers in our band. Firstly, we should have been five, not six and secondly, when he read the credentials of the guy in front with the acoustic he only saw the 'vocalist' part..... missed the 'guitarist' bit.

We are one less now - the other rhythm guitarist (with the Tele) has had to drop out due to time restraints. Consequently we are now re-defining roles.... including vocalists not playing on some songs.

I'm off to buy a triangle, bongos, castanets and a tambourine today in case I get cut from any of the songs!! Image

Then again, I could always join the crowd and have a beer....... hmmmmmmm.

Well done!
Where are the songs with you soloing?
We have up to 10 people on stage, but usually 9. Songs without horns are put in the set so the horn section can go get beer for the band. Image
Rehearsal schedules are great fun.
