Rush - Snakes and Arrows

Post by geddeeee »

Just had the pleasure of listening to the new Rush album, Snakes and Arrows.
Unfortunately Ged is not playing a Rick, BUT his Fender does sound pretty good.
In fact I think the album is a return to form. Very exciting in places. I felt the old rush (pun intended) of the old days. Lots of guitar noodling as well.
The bass is tight and funky in places. And the drumming is as fantastic as ever.
Give it a listen. It pisses all over Vapor Trails IMO.
Their best album in a long while, with good sound all round.
Enjoy..... I did!!!

The promos have been floating around. I've heard half of the album and couldn't finish it.

Bob,
Where there's a will, there's a way! LOL...
On Demonoid torrent site.
I will admit there are a few duff tracks. A bit samey. But there are some classic Rush moments.
It sounds like they're rockin'. And that's the main thing!

Much of the playing - especially drums & bass - is excellent, but on the first few listens for some reason I feel sadly underwhelmed. At the moment, for me it feels like it has a lot of great ingredients, but the wrong recipe. I'll persevere with it though. Most Rush albums - in fact most good albums - take a few listens to really appreciate.

Fav tracks so far. Spindrift, Malignant Narcissism and The Way The Wind Blows.
The rest are hit and miss at the mo, but a few are growing on me.
It's still better than Vapor Trails, and for me that's the main thing.
We'll never have the old Rush again, but that is usually the same of most bands that have been going for a while.
That's getting older for ya! LOL!

It's a site to download .torrent files.
These files are used by a Bit Torrent program like Bit Comet or uTorrent. You can then download files, music etc.
www.demonoid.com is the site.

I found it on IRC.

It's sound pretty good. Not very vintage, Farewell To King-ish, but it's ok. I don't really like the voice of Geddy of the last few albums though.. But it's all right! Respect for those oldies Image

they are filming a new video right now in Toronto. the guitarist of my band is playing the young Geddy circa Tom Sawyer in the video and doing some editing/post-production.

We know it's not out officially until the 1st, but we like to be "pirates" and get it before then. I have it on right now.

This may be the first release since I've been listening in '81 that I don't rush out and get on the day of release. While the usual great musicianship and recording, I just don't hear anything from the first single that's any different than the last three albums.

I'll give in and get it eventually, I'm sure. But I'm in no hurry this time around.

I've also got a complete copy and with the first listen I have to say that I wasn't very impressed. The only songs that stuck out were Far Cry and the instrumental Malignant Narcissism.

But, after a couple of more listens it's growing on me. Slowly yes, but at least it's growing on me.
