The phrase "cut to 1963 specs" is a little scary for me, and I wish it had a horseshoe. Otherwise, that BIN would have been hit about 4 minutes ago.

Wow! Right down to the split bridge. Hate that black pickguard.

1996 4001... Do they mean they took a 1996 4003 and made it into a 4001? It is a beauty, though I would have a white pickguard.

The square heel looks like it was a V-63. Why oh why?

Looks to me like the surround was handcut to look like that. It does look like a V63 just refin'd...ah well, ya know, everyone likes THEIR own customs....

It sure looks like a V that has been "spec'd" out.

Throw on a HS and get rid of that awful black guard and you have a great looking and sounding bass.

I actually like the looks of the black guard. I wanted to keep an eye on this one but it seems a little pricey for a refin.

Somethin' ain't right about that bridge. The chrome saddles look like they're from an AllParts bridge. I think the string holes are a little too circular as well but its hard to tell from the photo angle. Could be a complete Allparts unit with the "missing tooth" gap cut into it, or it could be an Allparts bridge/saddle insert on a RIC tail.

I also want to know why the seller hasn't included any front photos of the headstock/TRC. Did somebody try to paint a vintage re-issue TRC black and goof it up? Did he use a black raised-letter TRC? I guess we'll have to buy it to find out!

Not a fan of the black 'guard, but that does look like a V63 to me. Note the dot neck(missing the last dot so its not a 4003S), square heel, and 1/2 inch spaced toaster.

He lowered the BIN.

This is tempting to say the least.

Gosh, Jeff, I think at about 19 so far. Soon to be 22 in about a week, after UPS arrives. This one will make it 23.

I have a really bad case of RAS, made worse by seeing all the great Ricks on display last Saturday at MARF II Image
