Ironic Song Titles of The Sixties

Post by admin »

Perhaps I was up too late last night, sorting through the virus literature, however, I got thinking about song titles of various groups that stuck me funnier and funnier as the night wore on. I confess that they are not nearly so funny this afternoon, but here are a few. I would like to hear of others that you find.

The Foundations - Build Me Up Butterdup
The Mindbenders - Um Um Um Um Um Um
Bread -Make It With You
The Miracles - Shop Around
The Byrds - Eight Miles High
Little Peggy March - I Will Follow Him
The Zombies - She's Not There
The Drifters - There Goes My Baby
Fifth Dimension - If I Could Reach You
Status Quo - Break The Rules
Vanilla Fudge - You Keep Me Hanging On
The Seekers - I'll Never find Another You
The Righteous Brothers - You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling
The Parliaments - I Wanna Testify
The Beatles - Dig It
The Rolling Stones - Around And Around
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Great song titles here. What I was looking for, and I did not explain myself well enough was a connection between the group name and the song title. As in the example The Foundations - Build Me Up Buttercup. Regardless, that for all the great titles.

Peter, what did you start here?! But I'll ignore your recent narrowization, and nominate
Bellamy Brothers: If I said you have a beautiful body would you hold that against me?
(And this is 70's too, so should not have been posted).
Searchers amongst my teenage favourite music. Still fond of them, but earnestly a little puzzled they are considered THIS big! But I'm very excited about this forum, and will love to read it regularly, and also contribute!
