what we really want is more 60s specs on the 360 , after all; it was the greatest Rickenbacker ever made.

Oh, this discussion...

+1 - 21-fret
+1 - thinner top
+1 - optional deluxe features
+1 - optional plexi trc

= 360v65

Chris Clayton told me the 360CW is his FAVOURITE Rickenbacker of all.

I for one would never discontinue the 360 as it exists today - it's a great guitar and every time I pick mine up that sentiment is totally revitalized. But, it'd be sweet to have another V-series guitar in the form of a 360v65. I'd buy one tomorrow without a moment's hesitation. ******** to my credit card company!

Hey, and you never know, with the possible forthcoming reduction in backlog, RIC may be more free to experiment a little more. This is in no way a complaint, the current line is fab.

Schaller keys go well with that big headstock, I'm kind of sad to see it go...

Something doesn't look right with the big keys and the small headstock.

Damon, maybe back in '97 that would've worked. I think the magic number now is.....2000.

I think if we keep on dreaming hard enough our sonic brain wave vibes might sink in...it ain't Bitching; it's wishing.

"Although I think we might be p*ssing of a certain CEO..."

That wasn't the intention when we hi-jacked this thread. ;^)

RIC try hard to be responsive to their customers, so nobody should get cheesed off when we entertain these types of things. Besides, how else will they know what people are thinking about their instruments if we don't discuss it?

I thought the whole "gumby" headstock thing wasn't bitching but was just an effective description relative to its shape; it's just like how we refer to "vintage reissue-type pickups" as "toasters." $.02

I will apologize to all who read here about the 'Gumby' reference to the peghead from certain era of Rickenbacker guitars....I may have been the one who started that a few years ago, but I'm not sure. Nevertheless I never meant it to be derogatory or offensive.

I had coined the reference to the shape of the headstock on certain 1971 360/6 guitars that had a wider profile to accomodate the Grover Rotomatic tuners used on many of the deluxe guitars at that time. Looking at pics you can see that it was a noticable change. And we saw another change around 1984 or 85.

IMO they are just changes, and it doesn't make them any more or less Rickenbackers than the next model....it's all part of the story. On with the show!!!Image

Mrs. Murphy gave a party
Just about a week ago.
Everything was plentiful,
The Murphys, they're not slow.
They treated us like gentlemen;
We tried to act the same,
If it weren't for what happened...
Well, it was a doggone shame.
When Mrs. Murphy dished the chowder out,
She fainted on the spot;
She found a pair of overalls
At the bottom of the pot.
McGinty, he got roaring mad,
His eyes were bulging out,
He jumped onto the piano
And loudly he did shout:

"Who threw the overalls
In Mrs. Murphy's chowder?"
Nobody spoke, so he
Shouted all the louder.
"It's an Irish trick that's true,
I can lick the mick that threw
The overalls in Mrs. Murphy's chowder."

They dragged the pants from out the soup
And laid them on the floor;
Each man swore upon his life,
He'd ne'er seen them before.
They were plastered up with mortar
And had patches on the knee,
They'd had their many ups and downs
As we could plainly see.
And when Mrs. Murphy, she came to,
She b'gan to cry and pout,
She'd put them in the wash that day
And forgot to pull them out.
McGinty, he excused himself
For what he said that night,
So we put music to the words
And sang with all our might:

"Who threw the overalls
In Mrs. Murphy's chowder?"
Nobody spoke, so we
Shouted all the louder.
"It's an Irish trick that's true,
And we'll lick the mick that threw
The overalls in Mrs. Murphy's chowder."

I think it applies here!

So are the new headstocks on ALL new guitar models?

I.E. on all 330s, 360s, 381s, 620s, 650s, and 660s?
