Ben, my first international confluence attendance was during last year's 75th Anniversary festivities in Santa Ana. It was one of the most enjoyable weekends of my life. The hospitality shown by our SoCal hosts was simply tremendous.

As a result, I'm flying out again this coming August and bringing my wife this time. Howard Bishop is also making the journey from Australia once again.

We've already made reservations at the Holiday Inn for at least Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. To the best of my knowledge, there will be confluence activities on the Friday, as well as Saturday and Sunday.

I'm now beginning to think we should check in Thursday night, too. That might be a smart idea.

I look forward to meeting you both in August. Howard and I will teach you how to play the game "Bottles". Apparently the MARF contingent couldn't keep up the pace, and reports I hear suggest that they were all tucked away in bed by 10.00pm Image

"keep up the pace"

Please be careful..

The last time he was over here in Bucks County, I had to carry a band mate up to his front door. He was semiconscious. He thought that years on the road would have conditioned him.

Drink with the Aussie's at your own risk. Image

Well it's a good thing that I don't drink any more.
Otherwise it would be me that someone would be carrying. However I DO want to witness a game of bottles....

We had a great time that evening, but I did not envy you having to get up that early to fly out. I really believe it was your younger years that made it possible! I wasn't down for breakfast until 11AM.

I missed my flight out of LA... kind of. I realised when we got back to the hotel 3 hours before my flight, I wasn't going to make it, and called to re-book. Worth the $100, I like to tell myself.

Sorry I missed it, well, not the drinkin part, but I have a room this time!

Once upon a time there was a tavern
Where we used to raise a glass or two
Remember how we laughed away the hours
And dreamed of all the great things we would do

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

I was just a little fuzzy in the morning, but then I am a bit larger than you guys, and it wasn't until the stroll around the Sawdust Festival that I felt straight again...

We're gonna do the SD Festival this time round too, so you can walk off your hangover there once again! Image

Amen to that Alisha! You guys played "bottles" after HOB on Sat. nite?! I was torn up by the time we left Sunset. After I got on the bus, I fell fast asleep (ok, I passed out on the bus) and woke up once we pulled into the Double Tree parking lot, yes! Bad hangover the next am. I played a round of "bottles" at MARF II. JB, John K, Kris and Jason might recall that I am the worlds worst at the game, lol. We didn't get past 105 as I recall (thank God!!)

I had a hangover every morning!! A few cups of coffee and a some large guzzles of water got me going each day. I was on such a high just being there that I probably wouldn't have needed that anyway!!

BTW, 'Bottles' is not just a player's game - it's a spectator sport as well! Image
