TI found me an importer and a price. he emailed me yesterday. The import person will have to send these strings in bulk sets per gauge which he priced due to the large order the gauges will come as installments. Basically what is available will be sent until the whole order is filled. In other words he may send me three gauges until enough of the other come in. We have alot of orders. I will have to package, box and ship them myself. I will round off the price to 21.00 per set to cover material, tape etc since I am doing this myself. I figured the price to be 18.88 per set. This is a great price from TI as they outdid themselves to make us happy!! Ordering parties will also have to pay for actual shipping charges to your address. For example I sent a test set to California from Pennsylvania and it was approximatly 5.00 Priority Mail. I still have to find out what shipping will be from the importer if any. I will now open official orders utilizing first come first serve. Whomever emails me now will be numbered in order of email. They will be first to receive. Once I receive all gauges I will start to assemble and ship. This may take some time so please be patient. I never did this before. Once orders are placed no cancellations please. I will need your :

# sets officially
I will use the 02-May-07 at 6pm EST to be the cutoff. No orders will be accepted after that time. No exceptions please. I will then give him the final tally so he can prepare and I will ask for all money orders. I will give 2 weeks for the money orders to be mailed to me. Whoever does not send in their payment will not be placed on the order. This may be the only chance we will get these strings if they do not make them permanent. I don't know if they will. My email is [email protected]. If you guys have any questions or concerns feel free to ask. Thanks, Gino

Hi everybody! Just a reminder. I know a ton of you guys already told me how many sets you want in the past.I have you guys on a list. That was for an approximate headcount to let TI know how many and to let them know this was a reality. This is now the official order. I need everyone to confirm their number of sets and I need your shipping address. Now that we have a price I knew alot of you would want to make changes to your number. Some of you have. If there are no changes in your desired count please email me anyway to confirm your order even if you have done so in the past.
Thanks for all the kind words. I hope you guys will be happy with the strings. It makes me feel very nice to do something like this. You are a great bunch of people. God Bless.

I've had my TI's on for about ten days now and generally play the twelve between one and two hours per day, so I would imagine they're properly broken in by now. I did tweak the rods about 1/4 turn after a few days and the action is excellent. They feel good and the sound is definitely a little bit more toward the "vintage" side of the spectrum than the RIC compressed rounds. It's not a huge difference, but you can hear it.
The big, low strings are amazingly dead-sounding if you pick them alone. Pluck the low E by itself and it sounds awful - a dull thunk without much attack and without much sustain. However, when you pluck it with it's octave mate, you get that vintage tone - think of McGuinn grinding around furiously on the low E and A pairs at the end of "Eight Miles High". I assume this is part of the whole "increased prominence of the octave strings" thing mentioned earlier. Adding a compressor, JangleBox or other sustain-increasing gizmo seems to make a substantial improvement, especially if you're playing something delicate or melodic (as opposed to rocking-out).
I also noticed that the big strings are soft enough that I can bend them down over the frets if I really clamp down hard with my left hand - sending them slightly sharp. Using a little bit softer touch still gives me good, clean fretting, but with proper intonation. I've never noticed this on other guitars or on this one with different strings. There are certain songs or types of music where I think I might prefer the somewhat more ringing tone of the compressed round-wound strings, but for generating that vintage twelve sound, the TI's seem to be excellent. My 2 cents from the peanut gallery.

I had already let Gino know I want five sets. He emailed me on April 20th with the price per set, and said that he's ask for money orders on May 3rd. He also said to check Rickresource.com-Rickenbacker Forum-Rickenbacker Guitars for all info. But there's no thread there. I emailed him back stating that I was still interested, and sent my shipping address. I have not heard any more. I don't have an address to send payment to, and I don't know the total with shipping.
Ka is a wheel.
