looks like i'll be getting my hands on a '82 4001. it is one of the anomalies w/ Wavy Grovers, a good thing, but one is broken.
options are trying to track down an E/A Grover or to replace the keywinds with a 'standard' set. i'd prefer to the first option obviously - but if this doesn't happen, is the swap painless? that is, will i need to increase or shim the bores in the headstock? will the new tuners will fit or cover the Grover screw holes?

If you were to swap to the new Schallers you would definitely need to drill the 16 new screw holes, Bryce.
But I'm pretty sure no drilling would be required to get the posts and bushings to fit.
I'd try to find another Grover. Email Dave Pascoe. He's our resident Wavy Grover man. He might have an extra.
