Agree on: dice fret markers kinda cool ... dice knobs not so much.
Enjoy!

So the knobs should go in the case and stay there, seems to be the general consensus.

Do mods carefully; you do not want the following to happen:

Very cool-looking guitar, Brian.... But I'm not real crazy about the dice knobs, either.... Silver or black would look great.

I darned near bought one of those a few times. Knobs and all, it really speaks to my inner 50's guy. I hope you have a lot of fun with it.

Thanks for all the great comments. I am sure I will enjoy this great guitar a lot. If nothing else, it has it's own built in mojo and we all know how important mojo is to a musician. Right? Image

The Kat series is apparently one of the lines being made at Epi’s new factory in China.

Here is a slideshow tour of the factory near Qingdao:

http://www.epiphone.com/FactoryTour/qdtour.html

I know it seems a little surreal or futuristic to see so many guitars on a conveyer line (being dried) but the quality/price ratio of what Epiphone is producing there is amazing. (The pickups are made in the USA.)

I need another guitar like I need … another guitar but now that my 330DCM is finally intact I’m still undecided on how, when and if I’m ever going to take it out of the house. So I picked up a Dot Studio (also made at the new China plant). For two bills it is simply outstanding.

Thanks Mark. That was an interesting tour. Although, Flamekats have been discontinued, according to my local Epiphone dealer. It would appear on the surface at least, that the Chinese are taking great strides in production quality.
