Darn Steve Wood... V63 & AG Content!!!

Post by basse »

That guy... Telling me about snagging another V63... Particularly because I'm in the dreadful process of selling my 4005!

I got so jealous that I started trolling the on-line offerings of the local Toronto vintage dealers. And lo and behold I found a '93 FG V63 at Capsule Music. I raced down to the store on my lunch only to find out that it had been sold and walked out the door no more than 15 minutes before I got there... Probably a good thing in my current situation!

BUT, I also noticed that they had just received a '78 Autumn Glo that hasn't hit the website yet. And it's in great shape! They're asking $2,300 CDN ($2,080 US$) for it. So if anyone here is interested you can get a hold of them through their website at http://www.capsulemusic.com/ And their phone number is 416-203-0202.

Good luck if any one here is interested!

That's a tough story Dave! Did they say what the V63 went for?

Thanks, although having it gone just might have saved my marriage... *smile*

It sold for $2,500 CDN. They told me that it was in VG+ condition but I didn't get to see it myself. I think it's still up on the website... Just checked and it is at http://www.capsulemusic.com/retail/detail.asp?ID=3326

BTW, they also had a late '70s, early '80s El Degas, neck-through 4001 copy in FG at $699 too.

I feel like a lot of '78 AG (plus or minus a year) have been coming up lately ... and they've been going for more and more every time. I know I overpaid for mine a few months ago, but it was less than a few I've seen in the last month.

For my money, it's such a gorgeous finish. I prefer it with black rather than white, though.

It's in mint condition and in MY possession!

It's a July 1993 that's virtually been unplayed.

The 78 at Capsule is Walnut finish, not AG. Easy to confuse that finish.

nice catch Jon.

i remember spending a lot of time in Capsule and Songbird while touring through Toronto.

great little shops.

the prices of the AG/Walnut are getting carried away lately. i paid $900 for a Walnut last summer, $1100 for another a couple months ago (needs a stock tailpiece). though i'm not complaining about the inflation from this side of the fence...

I think the prices are getting carried away because of RIC's huge backlog. A lot of people won't wait for a new RIC, so they're creating the demand for used. Hense those prices RIC's go up.

Jon, in the words of Kyle from South Park referring to Cartman... You B*stard! *smile*

Good on you for picking up! Glad to see it went to a forumite!

Does that mean you'll be into meeting Steve & I for beers later this summer to compare basses?
