Jared; If a power tube arcs, you get smoke and the amp go's kaput..this used to happen with the old Traynor custom specials from the late 60's, I had it happen a couple of times...Steve Miller used to use those amp brains in the 70's...R

I'll second the recommendation about replacing electrolytic caps. They will definitely pop audibly in an audio circuit when they get old, and the insulator between the capacitance plates breaks down.

I figured out my problem. I went in early today so I could have some time to look at it more closely. The output of my Airline wireless is like an active pickup. I should have plugged into the -15db input. It didn't dawn on me before!!! It is much easier to control now. I can have the gain and master on the SVT higher now that I have a decent (not overdriven) input!!!!!!!!
