That was very cool Roy,

Wayne has improved with age in my opinion. His stage presence is fabulous. Well worth trying to see at a live venue, I would venture to say.

The clip info for the 2nd one says it was made in 2004... anyway, that doesn't make any difference, imho.
Hmmm... would it be too bad to call a 60 years old guy cute?.. He's hot and cool. And i even kinda envy his ability to make fun of himself. Great vocals, too - if not for the vid, i probably wouldn't guess it was made recently!

He's not changed though Sheena in last 3 years! neither has the intro to the song.

Self effacing humour is very powerful. It has the ability to connect with any audience at the very primal level of our existence. He's still got what it takes.

Being a bassplayer the best part of the original song was the thumpy sounding bass intros which were an integral part of the song, I would have thought the bass player he has now would have tried to get that sound today, otherwise I thought it was a pretty good performance.

Thanks for these two links, Roy. I thoroughly enjoyed both of them.

Wayne's story about the singing nun beating him to number 1 appears to be complete fantasy. 'Dominique' was released in December 1963 and its highest placing was number 7. 'Game of love' was not released until February 1965, when it did get to number 2

Info taken from Guinness book of hit singles.

Well spotted Rob, it was actually kept off top spot in UK by The Seekers and I'll never find another you but does not make as good a story?

Singing Nun did make number one however but in US!

Rob: Another good example of how music history and reminiscences of the same are often quite different for the 1960's performer.

This would make a very good thread, Memories That Never Were. I suspect music history is filled with examples where one band member's memory of a life event is quite different from another member's recollection too.
