CRESTING WAVE REVIEW

Post by jingle_jangle »

Dancing on my deck this morning around 7...my "new" '67 FG 625, joined by my 425V63, '65 450/12, and the troublemaker that started it all, my first Rick--the '04 MB660/12 that I bought new in late '04...

Isn't there a song by Van Halen called "Little Guitars" ? "Senorita I'm in trouble again ..." - that one.

Paul,
since '04? You are still in your Rickenbacker honeymoon. And I thought you were fiddling with
Ricks for almost 40 years.
Wonderful pictures...

The new 625 is a beauty Paul. The cresting wave is my second favorite Ric body shape, after the 350. Two of my three Rics are cresting wave, '05 660/12 FG and '03 JG 620. I really love the lack of weight of these guitars and the super thin bodies. You can wear them all night and not notice.

What a great line up. Congratulations.

Paul, I can't add a thing to what has already been said above. Congrats! It and all the rest are real beauties. I am still hoping to sell my 370 to buy a 660.

The TRC on the 660/12MB looks very familiar. Image

Very nice set of guitars.

The first one is another award winning poster, Paul. I love the earthy tones.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Great photos, Paul. The cresting wave is a criminally under-appreciated design in rock history, IMHO.

I didn't realize how recent your Ricaholism was! 10,000-plus posts in 2.5 years is amazing...

Great picture, Paul. Nice garden area. It would like even better if you moved all of those guitars outta the wayImage

Great set, group, pod of Cresting Waves.

As a post script, it certainly seems longer than two and half years since you came on board with your 660 (and then the 381). A lot of Ricks have passed thru Chez Wilczynski since then, and many have stayed.

You folks are, as usual, very Kool and Komplimentary...one of the reasons this is such a great place to hang one's hat!

Right now, it seems like I've never had a life without Ricks, so here's to the future...

I've never sold any Ricks that I've been privileged to give a home to. They're just too darned unique and beautiful. And I do enjoy playing them, too.

Last Sunday, we went into the studio to record our third album (although it's the first with yours truly and our new drummer, Rick). In it is the first surf song we're aware of that uses Ricks for both lead and rhythm. George played his newly-acquired 330/6 for lead and my 660/12 rounded out the sound playing straight, but full, backup chords.
