Pro Tools help

Post by charlyg »

I'm stuck. I recorded my bass, played back the track, it sounded fine. Now, when I reopen Pro Tools, the waveform is there, but nothing on the output. I have my headphones plugged into the M-box, so if the sound wanted to come out the iMac speakers, it could, or I should hear it in the headphone jack of the M-box, now nothing. This is after I bounced the track to disk, tried playing it in Quicktime, and nothing there either. I am frustrated...........

Its hard to tell what's going on without a screen shot, but I'll try to help with some common things:
- Look to see that you have the recorded track unmuted
- Look to see that you have the track assigned to an output, ie: you'll want it to play on the mbox
- You may have a master volume track in the mix? Ensure that it is unmuted and assinged to the mbox for playback.

Those are some of the most common problems with playback.

Let me know if that gets you anywhere...

THose things seem on order, well, I'm not sure about the master thing, I only have one track. I am not sure how to do a screenshot on the mac. I'll look it up now. It's something simple, I'm sure.

there is an application on the mac called 'grab' that will do a screen shot - do a search in spotlight for it, or its in applications->utilities (i think).

Ok it is command shift 4 and then drag to size. I have a screen shot. The picture size here is too small I presume. SHould I email you the shot? It is only 84k as it is.

I would publicly like to thank John for the help. We got a good bounce to disk, just with low output. Once that is solved, I'm ready to rock!

Hey Charly,

Sorry I'm late to the party!

Things are a bit busy in this end. I'll be back to rights after June 8th, when I can spend some more time here on the forum.

Glad everything worked out!

Another one, at least with PC... make sure you have the right souncard assigned for playback. The audio won't find your Mbox unless it's set as a playback device... don't ask me how long it took me to figure that out the day I got my 410... Image
What do you mean the Bass is too loud???
