Fender BXR

Post by rob »

I have a Fender BXR 200 amp head for bass. 200 watts RMS into a 4 ohm speakerload. I had one a couple of years ago, and had to sell it for lack of funds. Now, since I'm lucky enough to buy another one, I would love to buy the matching speaker cabinets for it. Fender made a 2x10, 4x10, and 1x15. I would like to buy all three, and since theses are discontinued from Fender from 8 years ago, I must buy used. Nothing is up on Ebay right now.

As I am saving up money for these right now, I cannot make a purchase. Most likely can within the next couple of months. Does anyone know someone selling these? If so, how much?
Thanks in advance.

I think you and I discussed this at one time in the past!
The Fender BXR series was a woefully overlooked line from Fender. Good stuff. I had a BXR 400 head that I sold a few years ago, but did keep the BXR 4x10 cab that I use daily. Keep your eye out for a BXR Spectrum cabinet that they offered too - I think it had a 18" & 2 10"s maybe?

Good luck on your quest!

The thing I liked most about the BXR 200 is the built in chorus. I remember when I bought the amp the first time, I actually went in the store looking for a chorus pedal. I came out with a 200 watt chorus pedal! The BXR 200 also came as a combo amp, but I prefer the look of the piggyback head/cabinet. Of course, what I always like is the more expensive way. Isn't that the way the story always goes? Image

Isn't that the way they say it goes
But let's forget all that
And give me the number if you can find it
So I can call just to tell them I'm fine and to show
I've overcome the blow
I've learned to take it well
I only wish my words could just convince myself
But that's not the way it feels

So, does anyone know of these for sale? I've been looking, but can't find anything. I would like one of each of the speaker cabinets.

Thanks in advance.

So, does anyone know of these cabinets for sale? I can't seem to find these anywhere, even on Ebay. I'm looking for a BXR210H, BXR410H, and BXR115. I'm still trying to scrape up enough money, but will pay top dollar to anyone who has these for sale.

Do you have any pics, Rob? I had a cab that was a BXR4x10 (I THINK) but want to make sure.

Actually, no I don't. The closest thing I can come up with is that Fender has the Bassman cabinets that have been out as the BXR's replacements (same speakers), but I am looking for the actual BXR cabinets. Call me obsessed if you will, but I would love to have the matching cabinets to my beloved BXR 200 head. I find it ironic that these cabinets are hard to find since I assume Fender made a lot of these. I do have BXR on my Favorite Searches on Ebay, but all that comes up are the BXR combo amps. Oh well, I guess I'll have to learn to be patient. Image

Well, I almost got the 1x15 that was on Ebay last week. I tried talking him into shipping, but insisted on local pickup only. Being 5 states away, it was a little too far. The price was fine, $149. Excellent shape, of course. I'm still puzzled on why I don't see the BXR cabinets for sale often. They must be too darn good to be considered keepers. Image
