Is it possible that Rosetti haven't distributed these to the authorised dealers yet? I thought the basses were only shipped to the UK just over a week ago. If not, then I will start to worry...

I did order from the authorized distributor through an authorized dealer in Norway.

Yeah, and unfortunately that distributor forgot to pass that order along to us. Doh!

It is possible that Rosetti's shipments haven't gone out to dealers yet, as they perform a very thorough inspection and adjustment if necessary, following arrival.

I remember when I called Bass Emporium when these were announced and asked if I could order one through him. He told me he placed an order for one but did not think he'd get one. Not only did he get one, he got two! And of course he's selling both of them for $4999 instead of taking a customers order in good faith. I've spent thousands of dollars at Bass Emporium, but I won't spend another penny there.

That does suck, Bob. And I can understand how you'd want to do business with better dealers in the future like Mike Parks or Chris Clayton.

But at least your dealer didn't take your order, accept your payment of full list price, give you an invoice, charge your card, take your phone number, tell you he'd call you when your bass arrived, let you wait for seven months...and then refund your money without an explanation or an apology. That's what happened to all four of us forumites who ordered from the Chicago Music Exchange.

I've learned my lesson.

John, I called into Sound Control, Bristol to enquire after my bass. They said that they had checked with Rosetti last week and there was no news on the basses yet. Sound Control are a RIC dealer so I don't quite understand why there is no bass here for me yet. I Will contact Rosetti and see what is going on.

OK, I've just contacted Rosetti and they have told me that the bass order "has just docked" and that no basses have been shipped to the dealerships yet. My dealer is open for business in 35 minutes, mine will be his first telephone call today.....

Doh? I dare to say I'm one of the most devoted Rickenbacker fans in Scandinavia. No 4003 DCM for me, then. Someone forgot to order it...

Sorry to hear about the problems you folks are having overseas. I know how difficult it was to get one here in the US, I can't imagine what its like for you guys. Keep at those dealers guys, keep at 'em!

Sorry to hear about your DCM, Lars. Too bad you and I ordered from incompetent dealers.

Maybe we should have a section on this forum entitled: Dealers To Avoid, so that other forumites don't keep getting burned by these idiots.

I can speak about the great integrity and trustworthyness of the two dealers I bought from:

Old Boise Guitar - Boise, Id
Bob's Guitar - Cedal Falls, Ia.

I'd add Parkway Music, Clifton Park, NY. to that list.

Add Luca Music in Providence, RI to the good list. Talk to Art there.

Thanks for those. Positive endorsements would be a very handy thing to have.

I really think it would be nice to have some sort of a page where forum members could check a dealer's past history.

It might have made the difference for me. I might have a DCM 4003 instead of a refund!
