Another interesting week on ebay.
Apart from the $4700 '67 4001FG discussed in the other thread, we have an Autumnglo, a Burgandyglo, and a 2060 JG.
While I'm not in the market to buy anything else right now (there's only one guitar I would have a hard time resisting at the moment), it's interesting to see what's coming to market.

Docbass: A very good question. The Model 2060 is a Model 2050 with binding. The 2020, and 2050 basses were fashioned after the Model 220 and 250 guitars. The 2060 is a solid body and there is no f-hole.
You can see a brief description of the 200 Series basses here. I have absolutely no idea how many of these basses were made, but there could not have been a great number. Perhaps Kenny or John Hall could comment.

Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

I have little to no knowledge of most of Ric's non 4000 series basses. Bjorn's site has this listing for the 2050 Eldorado, which looks the same to me (has the binding).

I've seen the Jetglo 2060 in person. I drove 5 hours round trip to a music shop in Chatham Ontario after I was assured it was in terrific shape. I can tell you that it's not in as good shape as they claim. Typical body wear but not mint. The main reason I passed was there was a flaw in the headstock finish near the G string tuner - it's almost like the finish is lifting. Iwasn't impressed by the bass or the seller - beware!

Wow, thanks for the info Steve. I was thinking about this one too. I have a soft spot for binding (3 of my 4 basses have bound bodies) and this is a nice body shape. Too bad about the wear and the finish. I think many sellers on eBay are prone to understatement of the flaws in their instruments. It's common, I'm sure. By the way, how hard, or expensive would it be the fix the lifting finish on a bass?
Jeff, you are so right. I haven't found a solid body bass yet that plays as good as my 4003. I had 3 Fenders and my friend at a local music shop talked me into the 4003. Boy am I glad he did. It fits me like a glove! I've since gotten rid of the Fenders and might even buy another Ric if the right one comes along!

If the finish is indeed lifting, it will be pretty tough to fix, at least properly. To do it properly would require stripping it back to bare wood and repainting it. On an old instrument, you'd have a hard time doing spot repairs, unless you were extremely skilled and knew exactly what the finish used originally was. Even if you managed to match the color, there's no guarantee that it wouldn't show with age, which it probably would.
William - the only part of the neck that's finished is the face of the headstock (where the nameplate is) and this is where the finish flaw is. You would have to refinish the face, which shouldn't be a huge job. The price is still a bit high and this is at least the second time it's been up on Ebay.
After looking at this 2060, I found a Turquoise 2060 from a shop in the states. Here's the link http://www.abcs.com/themusicshoppe/basspage.html
They had my 2060 listed as a 2020 and they actually have a couple of 2020's on there now - you never know, there could still be a 2060 there.
