The thing I enjoyed most about Zep was always JPJ....

Oh, sorry, you were talking about 'ovepriced gear'. But, on the other hand, the thread went from overpriced gear to tales of Led Zep.

Think it bears well for both the strat and tele that their design both internal and external have held up well with little need for modification...the strat is a stone fox in the looks dept...

The two sets of NOS Grover Sta-Tites originally belonged to original C-team member Joe Hardman. In December of 2003 I legally purchased both C58 NOS NAMM Sta-Tite sets from Joe for $150 each set. Joe sent me the tuners still in the Rickenbacker package as they were returned back to him. Along with the tuners Joe sent me two hand signed LOA's stating each set was used on each NAMM C58 (jetglo and mapleglo).

When the tuners arrived there was one full set. The other set consisted of 4 mix-match tuners. I notified Joe about the tuners. Joe referred me immediately to John Hall concerning the mix up. I have archived all emails regarding the NAMM tuners purchase for my files.

John Hall was very polite and quickly resolved the matter by finding Joe's C58 NAMM tuners and sending them back to me.

I recently emailed Joe asking if the C58 NAMM tuners he let Rickenbcaker use originally came in factory Grover boxes. Joe said that the tuners did not have boxes.

NOS Grover's still avergae $150 a set on ebay. Last year I purchased a NOS set of Grovers on ebay for a project for only $80!

Looks like someones paying for a very expensive autograph here.

Nice post, Karl, but it really has nothing to do with Led Zeppelin, now does it?

"zipper down" - BEST band name EVER! ;-)

"I bet Jimmy Page owns a guitar with Grover Sta-Tites! LOL!"

I'm sure he does. Little known fact: He always had Dave Davies tune that guitar for him. ;-)
