Am I crazy?

Post by martyr »

I'll admit that I've been out of the loop in the last few months and stopped GAS'n over Ricks, but has the price of Ricks really jumped that much? Someone over on another forum is selling their 2003 Monty Brown 4003 for almost $2000. Someone else sold their Jetglo 4003 for almost $1700!!

Am I crazy, or are both of these way overpriced? I thought back in 2003 you could buy a Monty Brown for $1200?

Crazy,perhaps Jon Image

However, I think that you will be hard pressed to find a new 4003 for under $1500.00 these days.

Has Rickenbacker really increased their price that much? I remember almost buying a new Monty Brown 4003 from Mike Parks for under $1100 Image

Nevermind, I just saw the list price for a new 4003. Talk about inflation.

"... been out of the loop in the last few months and stopped GAS'n over Ricks"

That's the law of connected vessels: you stop GASsing, someone else has instant GAS and is willing to pay more. So, Jon, you are personally responsible for the inflation in Ric prices.

Wow. I'd be more than happy to sell my 4003 JG for 1700.

I'd sell one of mine for that as well.

Last few months? Prices have been steadily rising (on used more than new) for years now, with a sharper ramp upward in the last 6 to 8 months, depending upon the model, of course.

I was the one that sold my JG for 1753 plus shipping. I took a chance with zero feedback bidders. Also posted high quality pictures. I could never figure out why people list with cheap cameraphone images.

I think the main reason it sold as high as it did was I included the Hipshot bridge and because JGs haven't been in stores for months. As soon as they start showing up at MF, prices will drop down to the 1200's.

wow I got my 4003 new in 2005 for $1179. that's crazy that they're going up so much. If I were the RIC company I'd be a little concerned about staying competitive with such high prices.
