I love watching the Anthology set. I had a problem with one of the VCR tapes and I decided to spring for the DVD set, and I am really glad I did. The extra stuff on the "Special Features" DVD is worth the whole set. Seeing Paul, George and Ringo jamming and reminiscing was great, as were the Abbey Road interviews with Paul, George, Ringo and George Martin as they listen to "Tomorrow Never Knows".

I have to admit that it seems from the interviews of the three of the Beatles together that George was more or less tolerating Paul, and George was probably glad when the get together was over.

I do find George's comments and recollections among the most entertaining. I think I trust his perspective more than Paul's.

I also find it funny how untechnical they were about their guitars. They don't remember model numbers or anything else about the guitars. We are all into that stuff. They just played 'em.

Overall, I just wish the "Special Features" DVD material had been longer! Seeing the three of them together looking back is really great. Of course, John's absence is always evident. I wonder what John's perspective would have been in 1994-95.

There's one bit in the Anthology that illustrates their respective personalities quite well... the three are sitting in the Abbey Road studio floor, and Ringo points to an area of the room and says that's where Mal and Neil used to stand while the band was recording. George finds this sort of detail amusingly inconsequential, so in a Monty Pythonesque moment, sarcastically says no, he remembers them standing somewhere else. Paul, not quite picking up on George's sarcasm, but ever the diplomat, then says, yes, you're both right, Mal and Neil would sometimes change locations where they stood. I have to wonder what John would have chimed in with...
