Goldsboro v Berry
Goldsboro v Berry
Little things and If You wait for love
Berry had a top 5 in UK with former and Goldsboro made 13 in States, neither charted with latter, though Dave berry told me that he made number 1 in Belgium with the song.
More be something to do with the compression to mp3 though both songs are same bitrate but Golds boro's version has the edge on LT but Dave's IYWFL is far superior and deserved to be a hit.

Once again you have opened my ears Roy. I have never heard If You Wait For Love sung by Dave Berry before. Compared to the Bobby Goldsboro version, it sounds like a different number.
Bobby does take it though, when it comes to Little Things.
Thanks for making these available.

Roy: My ears, as unreliable as they may be, tell me that Dave must have had two versions of this one. Just my 160 bits. Look to your inbox.

As far as i am concerned, i preferred Berry's versions in both cases. BTW, i have another Berry's version of Little things - a bit different (nevermind the "artist's name"
).
).Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.
That is likely the version of which I speak, Sheena.

Certainly like a lot of 60's acts there are numerous compilations with re-recorded versions, which were always poor value and I tend to not buy any stuff where versions have been re-recorded I suspect you have posted original version whereas I may have posted an inferior re-recorded version from file on PC., should have dug the CD out.

I doubt it was the original version; iirc, back in 2005, when i posted the same track as a "puzzle" (hence the "artist's name"), you've said it sounded like a re-recording. It's from a cassette tape, a compilation where most of the tracks were actually re-recordings.

Well the re-recording is of better quality. If it is not too much trouble, Roy, I would be very interested in a better quality recording of the original.
I will understand at this point should you tell me to go out and purchase my own.

My band plays "Apache", closer to Ingmann's version than the Shadows'. I found all three versions to be very intriguing, Roy, but had a good deal of difficulty picking one "best", one "runner-up" and one, erm, "third place".
I believe that this might have been the reason that you received so few responses to your survey. Perhaps that should have been my response a couple of days ago!
This version done by the legendary Bert Weedon (at age 83) at a small venue somewhere, was priceless for its sense of "being there" with the man:

Jimmy Hill on Rhythm, too!

Yes seen that Paul, does not really do him justice, back in 1960 he recorded Apache before The Shadows but record company were clearly not sure and did not release his version till Shads had started to climb charts.
His version was not bad but not on a par with Shadows version and even in 1960 Bert was 36 years old.
