Memory Almost Full REVIEWS.
Well it's 6:35AM EST and I have the album in my hands. Thank you Starbucks! The first comment I have is that the liner notes look a little un-detailed. Oh well, let me upload and review.

It's a nice quick (about 40min) album. My favorite track is "Only Mama Knows." When I first heard it I thought "OK FINALLY SOME 4001S."
However I was horrified to look at the book and find out that it was Brian Ray on bass. @$#%. Overall, very complete little piece of work. Much better than "Driving Rain."

I've been reading that "Memory..." was recorded in two chunks. The older stuff from a few years ago has the others, and the more recent stuff is just McCartney playing everything like on "Chaos...". Alas, he only used the Hofner on that one. It may be tough to find out what he used on the "Paul Only" tracks.

Got mine today, really like it! Much more energy to the songs this time. "Only Mamma Knows" is my fave right now. "Mr. Bellamy & House of Wax" are closing in fast though.
As far as the bass on "Mama", I read on one of Macca's sites that a lot of the earlier recorded tracks were performed by him & his new band. However, he went back and overdubbed many parts of those songs. The bass line to "Mama" was one of those that got reworked.

It is what it is!
I agree with you David "Mama" is my favorite song on this one. Love the chord change beginning the chorus. If you listen to the bass it sounds very Rickenbacker. Definitely NOT Hofner.

I thought it was recorded poorly. I even heard distortion (unwanted)in House of Wax. I read on other posts that Macca asked Bob Ludwig to master it very loud and compressed. The sound stinks. That Was Me & Dance Tonight are the most "McCartneyish" (not the album McCartney) songs on the album for me.Not too impressed after first listen.
That Was Me is probably my favorite right off the start, although it diminished slightly when I read that the walking bass line wasn't played by McCartney.
Upon the first couple run-throughs, I really am enjoying the album. Great one, which will only improve with each listen!
