Well I rember reading a interview with Lemme a few years ago. He said that he went to rick and they had the rick sitting there with the maple fretboard and it was some sort of prototype. He said he just told them I am taking this and left with it. That is kind of hard to believe but it is Lemme. He said the only sound he likes is a rick played with a pick through the marshall heads he uses. I had heard he sometimes plays thunderbirds too but I have never seen him with anything other then a rick.

Lemmy said that he bought the maple necked bass from somebody in the West Country who phoned him up. He said it was in a terrible state with lots holes in the head and had been defretted. He certainly didn't get it from Rickenbacker. It cost him £85 at the time.
Can someone point me to where John Hall confirms it's a fake? I've never seen that and I'd be very interested to read it.
