Progress of RickResource Forum Register

Post by admin »

During the past couple of weeks approximately 1,000 registrations have been added to the registry. This is a very good feeling after the long hiatus. Thanks goes out to Kendal, Tony, Kris, Joey and all those who have recently added new registrations.

I just sent my info but had to do it via e-mail with the copy/paste method. For some reason the "Submit" button on the online form only brought up a blank e-mail for me. Hopefully it worked OK.

Peter,

This is a bit off topic but how do I keep from having my IP posted as part of my info to the left of my posts? This is kind of private info...

Ahoy Steve. You can never "run a ground" when it comes to discussing Rickenbackers. Smooth sailing in this case.

Is this the info that shows up in the database section? I have a 4003s blackstar- don't really want to register it as a jetglow ;-). Should you have a blackstar color or should I choose other and denote blackstar?

Good point Chris. For now choose other and denote blackstar. Thank you.

I'm transferring pertinent comments (like black trim, vintage pickups, Blackstar, etc.) from the emails to the spreadsheet if they're so listed.

Thanks to the help of Joey Vasco, I'm back in the game!

Sorry for the delay on my part Peter, but this has been a REAL learning experience.

What a NIGHTMARE!

Oh, here is an FYI for those (like myself) that may be having absolute HELL trying to get Access files downloaded through Outlook Express.....

YOU CAN'T! These files are BLOCKED by a DEFAULT SETTING and cannot be changed!

After MANY calls to tech support, I was lucky enough to have ONE person who knew what they were doing. BESIDES all the server problems I was having, Microsoft Outlook 2003 (the newest version) CANNOT DOWNLOAD the following Access files!!!!

.ade, .adp, .mad (that one I can relate to), .maf, .mag, .mam, .maq, .mar, .mas, .mat, .mau, .mav, .maw, .mda, .mdb, .mde, .mdt, .mdw, .mdz, among MANY others....

If you do a search in the Outlook HELP option, and search for "FILES BLOCKED BY OUTLOOK", you will find all LEVEL 1 and LEVEL 2 files blocked. MOST are Access files!

With the new template from Joey, I'll finish up my initial batch in short order....

Mark: Thanks for your interest. I have not forgotten this project. A couple of other things need to get sorted out first. There will be more information forthcoming.

We have collected all of the more recent registrations together and I hope that RickResource Forum members will have a report sometime this fall. Thanks goes to Kendall Jaeger, Joey Vasco, Kris Lyons, Tony Cabibe and Gil Disatnik for their efforts. Now that the forum is moved and the initial "bugs" are out of the system thoughts regarding the final form of the data can begin in earnest.

I am very excited about this project as it was this idea that got me started on the Rickenbacker Registration Page some time ago. I confess to have been side tracked with the RickResource Forum which has grown somewhat larger than I expected.

There is continued progress with regard to the RickResource Forum Register. We have added many new files and have revamped the appearance of the database. At the rate of our current progress, it is hoped that it will be online within the next couple of weeks. There is still some tidying up to do with the database and a new user interface that will allow for quick turnaround with regard to new registrations.
