I think I had Low Rders on one bass and Hi Beams on another, but I'll have to check my notes as to which I liked better. The Black beauties sure would fit the Shadow theme.
BTW, the bass did come with its original case, a vintage style outside except all black, and a formed blue interior.
The neck on this one is pretty sweet, sleek and comfortable, and much smaller than the recent 4003s I've played/owned. There is a bit of truss rod rattle I haven't had time to investigate yet. The nuts look in decent shape, could be that one rod needs a bit of a snug up.

No oud yet, but it's on the list, as are both Appalacian and hammered dulcimers. At least I know where to get strings now.
Everything you want to know about ouds can be found here.
Most common tuning (high to low) is DAEBF#C#. It's tuned in fourths.
Lark in the Morning used to have a pretty good catalogue, but I'm pretty sure their quality range is pretty extreme. I had a Lone Star Bajo Sexto brought in which was utter ****. Looked great, but was unplayable.

Thanks so much for the info on strings. What a great resource this site is. (Thanks Jeff). I went with the TI's and they are great but were a little buzzy until I adjusted the rods. They feel kinda fretless to me and combined with such a narrow neck I have to slow it down. ( I should have such problems) I put a silver treble guard on because I'm used to playing that way. This bass attracts a lot of attention. Would love to hear about sound quality.
