How many times has this been for sale in the last year? Sold about 6 months ago for less than 1500 Euro's, then again a few weeks ago!

There's a couple of threads somewhere Graham. Refinished, new fretboard, not exactly what the sellers have claimed it is...

It sold in Germany the first time round for cheap money, and then again for about what the seller is asking now.

It is a nice refinished MG with those walnut wings though.

Andy is right, this one '72 4001 has cropped up before. And at first glance it does seem to have potential issues. You try and figure out what they are.

What is up with the Walnut wings on a '72?
And the fretboard looks like rosewood...maybe the bridge pickup/surround is wrong? And the nameplate appears to be fake... And the dwarf has apparently made off with the shedua stripe...

I could be wrong, again, but I believe early 72s have wings and no stripe and late 72s have the stripe and no wings.

Don't know about early '72, but by June of '72
when I started working in the woodshop, 4001 basses had Maple wings and Walnut centerstripes; the shedua came maybe late '72?

The action is not exactly low, however it looks to be set as low as it can go. Why? Because the saddles can only bet set so low, and the new fretboard - I hope nobody here thought it was original... - is set way lower than standard. So, "potential issues alert". Cheers.

As I've been through countless times before on the other threads, early 72s have walnut wings and no skunk! Sorry.

I'm sitting here looking at one, and it's my favourite Ric that I've ever played; it's one digit before this one. The skunk came in mid way through 72: I've played a May 72 (Neil Brewer's bass) that had it but also a December that rather strangely didn't (that should give people a few things to think about!).

This bass is killing me. Twice I've missed out on it so I recently went ahead and bought another Ric for a vintage conversion, and then this pops up again, and me with no money. The fingerboard doubtless needs replacing, it's obviously too low, but that's certainly fixable by someone who knows their onions (and I know several such).
