The Angels - 70's Aussie Band with a 4001

For those Aussie members who didn't know, Doc Neeson was also played bass for The Angels in the early days. This clip of their hit "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again" was one of those songs which rocked my 11 year old world at the time and fuelled my love affair with Rickenbacker instruments in later life.

Gee Darren, From Bay City Rollers to Angels, that's a quantum leap in your love of music!

Good thing that Hard Rock and Blues won over Bubble Gum.

(Who would of thought that Darren was a BCR fan in his youth - sort of shocks you don't it! LOL)

Here in the States, they were called Angel City. The first U.S. album was Face To Face - Still one of my favorites!

You're spot on Kris. They started out as The Moonshine Jug and String Band, followed by The Keystone Angels, then The Angels and Angel City.

I saw them open for AC/DC on the Back In Black tour in '81. Great band

I remember going to see The Angels,late 70's,early 80's, at a local venue,"Southside Six" with a group of friends,all of us around 19-20 years old at the time! Although we loved the music, we also had a fun night trying to get their guitarist/or was it bass player to flinch, or move!(We achieved this by any means available,(fair or not-so-fair!) His stage gimmick was to stand perfectly still and play the music,with no emotion or reaction to the crowd.

That would have been a killer show, Darren! I saw the Back In Black tour also, but AC/DC shared the bill with Kansas and ZZ Top.

Southside Six!! Crikey, Greg...... that place was an absolute hole in the early 70s! If you were looking for a blue then that was the place to go. As I recall they were de-licensed twice for brawls!

You didn't dare go into the main bar unless you had tats and your girlfriend wasn't wearing ugg-boots or moccasins!!

It still is a "hole" Aitch! Yes, it was a notoriously dangerous pub to venture into! But we were young and stupid then,now we're just older!
