If Ringo's works have surpassed McCartney's, then Paul's material has to be a whole lot worse than I ever thought it was.

Ringo uses Mark Hudson for a producer and he is a zany guy.
The last few Cds are full of Beatle Magic and sounds.

Paul's last 2 Cds IMO have been dull and dreary.

Mark Hudson was not only the producer -- he played bass on a lot of the songs and got a great sound out of his Hofner. "Choose Love," Ringo's last CD with the Roundheads, was a lot of fun. Mark seemed to have a knack for writing songs that really made the most of Ringo's very limited range. The production was absolutely great and very reminiscent of Beatles' harmony and guitar sounds, right down to Steve Dudas's quoting "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" in one of his solos.

Zany is the right word for Mark, Damon. When I was at NAMM last, maybe 2003? I saw this guy in a purple jacket and hair of many colors walking by. It was Mark Hudson. I got a closer look when he stopped by the RIC area.

Hey Richard...I just saw your post...

"P.S. Mick, I can't believe you and I have the same opinion about "Only Mama Knows." LOL"

Ya gotta remember, McCartney was my hero when I was growing up. But that doesn't mean that I find his recording output all that stellar over the past twenty-five years.

But that also doesn't preclude me from enjoying specific songs, "Only Mama Knows" being one of them.

He sounded inspired on that track, at least to these ears. The rest, man, I still think it sounds limp. And not limp in comparison to his past, vast, amazing repetoire of songs from his Beatles' days on. Just limp all on its own.

Gotta go listen to the new Wilco album right now; not bad.

Hope all is well, Richard, my good friend. We must debate again soon.

I like it better when we agree, Mick. Image

Enjoy that Canadian summer.

Mick, what do you think of the new Wilco? I still haven't made up my mind. I do like the new Bright Eyes, though.

I like the new Wilco. And to keep this somewhat on topic, I'd suggest to others on this fine website to pick up the new Wilco CD. They made a conscious effort to record it circa 1974, what with the analog recording approach. A number of people who like "classic rock" may take to this one, as opposed to some of their earlier releases, which were fantastic in their own right.

Hey, 31 degrees here in Toronto today, Mr. Roosa.
Okay, so that's, what, 81f? Still warm enough.
Still not warm enough to convince me to put the new McCartney CD back on the old stereo.
