My 360-6 Is Here

I took delivery today of the Mapleglo 360-6 I bought from Legends Guitar in Tampa last Saturday, and I am absolutely delighted with it. There's not a mark on the guitar, it's set up perfectly with new strings, it plays great and seems to stay in tune. My thanks again to Jason Mendelson for hipping me to it. This is the second Rick you guys have found for me in less than a year. Rickresource is one of the best guitar forums on the 'Net and I highly recommend Legends Guitars. They're courteous, professional, and the free T-Shirt was cool.

Now, the 360 goes to band practice Thursday night for the real test. I'm sure I'm gonna love it.

Now, as you probably know, you MUST post lots of eye-candy photos, and soon, before you get a single scratch on it! It is a basic law of the Forum that you must post pictures....

Oh, and be sure to give it the Paul Wilczynski Scratch-X and Zymol treatment too, with lots of clean 100% white cotton diapers cut up into 4-inch squares.....

I just got done really playing this guitar and some of you guys know that I was very doubtful about the 360 being able to handle crunchy hard rock. Well, I am convinced otherwise. This baby wails, and it doesn't sound anything like my Les Pauls, SG, or Stratocasters. I ran it through my Hot Rod Deluxe's distortion channel with the treble boosted, the gain on about 4, and the master volume on 3. What a great sound. Tone to the bone. I can definitely use this guitar for the harder stuff my band plays without a second thought, like "Train Kept A-Rollin" and Love's version of "Hey Joe." The Hi-Gains really do make a difference.

I'm glad I don't have a gig tonight. I can really spend some time playing the guitar and trying out different sounds. All my stompboxes are in the shop being built into a custom-made board, so I'll have to wait to check it out those sounds, but I'm totally stoked at what I'm hearing so far.

Jason...My stompbox project is four Danelectro boxes, (Daddy-O, Fabtone, that little cheapo echo named after some food, and a Backtalk pedal), an old DOD compressor, and a Planet Waves tuner, mounted on a piece of raw 3/4" plywood I bought at Home Depot. Nothing high-tech, for sure. I endorse Evans drumheads and can get Planet Waves stuff free of charge from D'Addario, so the artist relations guy sent me everything I needed to make a rig for my pedals. I took it to someone to put it all together, as I'm an electronics klutz.

Maybe a Janglebox is in my future?

I'm taking photos over the weekend to show you guys my two Ricks. Over the years, I've played Gibsons, Fenders, Epiphones, et. al. but I feel that now, with the Ricks, I'm getting closer to developing my own individual sound and onstage look. Now, all I have to do is get my band ready to gig out.

I can't wait to take the 360 to a blues open mic' jam to see the other guitarist's faces. They all show up with the usual "acceptable" guitars: Strats, Les Pauls, ES-335s, Teles. That's all you ever see for some reason.

This 360 just feels so right. It's solid, it stays in tune when I play it hard, it kicks major rock 'n roll ***, and it's such a classic look. I can't think of another guitar that says "Sixties" like a Rick.

Hey (Ho), I play songs from the first four Ramones' albums on my 381, and cranked up through a simple distortion pedal, it sounds spot-on.
