Thanks Tom, and I join you too in a Happy Father's Day to everyone out there who at least knows it is his! Image (just kidding)

My wife and I gave birth to our fifth child (second son, the first three were girls) just last week, so I am once again tearing what little hair I have left out worrying about setting up yet another college fund, and estimating the cost of car insurance by the time he has wrecked his first few cars before turning 18 Image

Regardless, there is just something almost indescribable about those first few weeks of life, when you can hold your child on one forearm, his head cupped in your palm, and his feet don't even touch your biceps yet. Your legacy and hope for the future, your own flesh blinking back up at you. That's when you quietly fall in love and swear you will protect him and sacrifice for him and love him forever, no matter what....

...and leave him your Rick collection someday too Image

Congratulations again on your new addition, Elys.... my last 'newie' (my son Pat) was nearly 19 years ago and my Daughter (Katherine) is 25 years past but I remember them both well.... priceless memories! Image

Elys...

I still remember, and will never forget, those moments with both of my kids, now 4 and 2. Everything you said is true...

Except...

I'm gonna be buried with my Rick. I love my kids... but Rosa's coming with me. Image

I'm not sure what to call it, Sheena! All I know is that there is a vas deferens between a man and a woman...

Thanks! I was pampered all day. Back to the grindstone.

By the way, Bob...where are you planning to be buried? Where exactly?

Just curious...

Somebody taking the "P" out of the title?

I just got back from sushi dinner (my daughter couldn't be at dinner last night)... So Father's Day extended.

Elys - Congrats on the new baby. Enjoy them all - my baby is 14 now. Man where has the time gone! All stages of childhood are just so damn cool!

I hope you all had a good one!

I floated in the pool with a lot less splashing and waves from the cannonballers, I noticed, than usual, and they kept bringing me fresh iced teas with the mint sprigs even when I didn't ask! Image

It's the little things... life is a journey and each day we must enjoy that journey, cherishing the lives we touch and help along the way. We just get that one journey here on earth. Hey, all of us are extended family, no matter how tenuous and virtual the bounds.

So, brothers, Happy Father's Day Time to all!!

Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend as much as I did!

Friday was my 53rd birthday, so my wife, daughter (from my first marriage), and I went out for a great steak dinner.

Great presents too: multiple cards and a gift cert. from the greatest CD store here from my daughter, and my wife gave me the new McCartney CD and a book called "I'll Sleep When I'm Dead" (about Warren Zevon) which I highly recommend!

And another book of Dr. Seuss' WW II political/editorial cartoons. Check that one out too - I had no idea he did that kind of thing back then, and it's intense!

And Sunday we drove to Columbus and saw the Richard Thompson band. Which is always a mind-blower and was a perfect end to a great holiday weekend.
