I agree. It's really noticeable when listening to "The Trees", especially at 1 minute and 13 seconds (at the moment you can also hear that either Geddy or Alex is using a flanger).

Hi all,

Here’s an alternative youtube post of Geddy and his Ric, the audio is not as hot as the other upload but you do get to see a LOT more of his bass.

You've got to remember that Ged always used the stereo out on his bass, so he could EQ each pickup to his hearts content. I kind of doubt anyone would have thought about removing a cap inside the bass 25+ years ago. Great tone either way!

I'm sure that his bass tech or luthier would have known about the cap. Probably the same person who fitted his tuners and Badass bridge.
The cap mod isn't a new thing. Anyone who knows about electronics would have known what the cap did.
It's only 25 years, not the prehistoric age.....
What d'ya mean... the bass is TOO loud!

Rickenbacker. The whole album and DVD/VHS is all Rick, all the time. A bit of chorus for YYZ.
Limelight is the best tone I've ever heard from a Rick, even better than Siberian Khatru by Yes.
Just listen to Ged's 4001 on The Trees. The break just before the solo. What tone. Even better on the old VHS copy. All hail Terry Brown!
Oh yesssssss!!!!!!!..........

I saw them twice on the Moving Pics tour and that was the one song he used the Jazz on. Same on the Signals and p/g tours. Not sure about the DVD.

On the ESL record/tape/CD, the bass used on the live 'YYZ' track is the Jazz Bass.
