for me the cheyenne 4004 #1

this exquisite bass is sculpted from solid Walnut, complemented by an Eastern Maple neck running the full length of the bass. Two humbucking pickups are carefully placed for maximum tonal capability.

Looks class all the way

There are stacks of ebony boards at Rickenbacker that they won't use. They should.

Brad, I saw that post somewhere where JH states there are the ebony boards lying around the Ric plant. They have obviously been there some time. One can only presume that they may be used for a production run sometime in the future. A 21 fret ebony neck ...doesn,t someone here have one of these:-] in purple, binding everywhere...wait a second..I,m getting a feeling of being here before....

I believe the Smith book refers to some ebony board 4001's out there as well, supposedly made in the early '70s...

Would you really notice a tonal difference if the fingerboard had the gloss finish ? Visually I think it would rock !

I can tell a difference with the maple boards(blackstar, tuxedo) than the normal rosewood. My ebony neck bass wasn't playable when I got it so it's going to be like Christmas when it arrives.

i think it would be a choice between a black on black like Brad has or a loredo.

more so the loredo because the black on black is just a 4001/4003 so it would just be a color change not a style change.

the loredo looks interesting but no one has one in any of the music stores on 48th st. in manhattan to try one out.
