New bass cabinet

I picked this little Ampeg BSE 115 up yesterday at the local Guitar Center for $200.00 slightly used. (Mint, USA made)

I didnt expect much, but its really a nice sounding cab, works well with the RBI.

Now I need to find another for a stack....

I always liked 15's! Mine is a different model (15-EN?) but I like it a lot. Goes well with my 2X10 for a little stackage.

I just switched back to my Yorkville 15"...
15"s are just the best way to get the "fat bottom"!

I, too, like 15's. You get more range out of them than some people think. I use an Ampeg 215 (USA)(resembles a black refridgerator) that I got for $400 used, and it was almost new. You used to see these things all over the place and now, never. 10s are so popular now. But I played my old 4001 all cranked up through my 215 and it sounded great.

Was it a V4-B cab Robert? They were the same size as an SVT cab except twice the depth, they were the best sounding of the folded horn type cab I thought.

My sound guy used to tell me of all the cabs I had, the twin 1969 V4-B cabinets with the pair of white-basket Altec Lansing 15s in them were the best sounding of all the cabinets. He said they beat out the pair of SVT 8x10 CTS 1970 cabinets by far.

These V4-B cabinets, or "W" folded horns as we called them, coupled about 30 feet out from the stage and tripled in apparent lowest-octave volume.

I ran two SVT heads back then. One went to two V4-B in parallel to get 4 ohms, and the other went to two SVT 8x10 in parallel to get 2 ohms. The V4-B cabs and SVT head went to the neck pickup and the 8x10s and other SVT head went to the bridge PUP, using RickOSound. I used them with the March 1971 21-fretter 4001, and a pick, and it was a killer combination

I used to use 15's back in the day,,,but got into the sound of 10's, and went down that path for a while.

Both have merit, but I am really enjoying getting back into the "thick" tone of 15's.

Now I'm thinking of maybe getting a second RBI, another cab, and spitting the pups up via Ric o sound.....I dunno.......,,

Back on the quest for the perfect tone....................................is there ever an end???

I love the tone of my Traynor YS-15 cabinets with Eminence Delta Pro drivers in them.

Splitting pickups with ROS exponentially widened my range of possible tone, coupled with two different amp stacks optimized for the two pickups.

These days I guess you'd use modern solid state with modeling amps

...sigh...

No, just a late-model Classic series cab with the kick plate, towel rack and all that stuff. Pretty run-of-the-mill but still nice, especially for the price.
