He is the reason I decided to take on the bass after I stopped drumming.

Oh yeah, just like you, I started as a drummer (or a drummer wanna be) and my reason for switching to bass was Suzi Quattro. Go ahead, lough at me. I was 15 years old then.

I drummed from age 14 to age 30, then switched to bass after my hands were unable to take the punishment of drumming any longer.

Had I not been a huge Lynott fan, I probably would have stopped playing music altogether.

Thin Lizzy are pretty much the reason why I wanted to be in a band (cemented by seeing Hawkwind in '79). Phil and Lemmy were my first two bass heroes.

Love Thin Lizzy, but my inspiration came earlier. Yeah, I am an old guy.
I had a big crush on this girl when I was 14 years old and since then - bass was my instrument. I discovered Ric later.

Kris, I'm right there with you! Suzi tilted the axis upon which my world revolved when I was nine years old. My first concert was December 10, 1974 when I saw Suzi play in Adelaide, South Australia.

She was the first woman I ever loved! Image

Darren,
Not the first one for me, but yes, I was madly in love with her. It is interesting that she was huge in Europe and Australia, but not much known in the U.S where she is from (Detroit). I can go on and on about her, but this is not a place I guess. Anyway, she is responsible for me playing bass.
