I guess I feel this is a bit overpriced considering it's a refin that doesn't look so great anyway. Compared to others I've seen, I think this is overpriced considering I believe it needs another refin!
Yeah, I have 5 more years of tuition, counting my son, then I plan on going on a bass collecting binge!!! And money won't be an object at that stage. #;^)

There is another 4005 for sale at Bassgear.com

You know, as much as I love the 4005 design, I'm starting to think that owning one is more pricey than it's worth. I have 3 great basses that I love and play all the time. At these prices, I'd be afraid to play a 4005, especially out in public!! I buy basses to play, not to hang on the wall. Maybe when I have some money to burn, such basses will be something for me to consider. I'm just not a collector in the pure sense of the word.
As a matter of fact, this Friday evening I will be playing a gig with my '67 4005 WB! Check out www.rareblend.net .I don't collect either. Think of the guys who own multi-million $ Ferraris, such as the $6,000,000 330TRI, that are out there racing them in vintage events. The point is play your basses, vintage or otherwise, that is what they were meant for.

Hi Everyone - I was out of town for the past week+, visiting my family back east, with no net access. To William - yes, the bass sounds as beautiful as it looks, and it plays oh-so-sweetly!!!! To Jeff - yes, I will get around to cleaning up the bridge to try to make it as shiny as possible!! To Claude - THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!! (I already downloaded the excellent pics you took of it, both before and after). Ditto to Jaime!!!!!! Next week I will begin moving, so it will be a couple of weeks or so before I get on here again....moving sucks, but sometimes you gotta do it. Once I get settled, I will post a pic of my RIC basses, and my 1940 Rickenbacher lap steel....and yes, I play all of them!!
Later!
