Philip, that's a great tone! I have an SVP Pro and a GS212, but my Ricks never sounded that good, you have the touch! I don't know if it's cool to ask about settings, but if you wouldn't mind sharing I'd appreciate it. Oh, and I'll need a 4001...um, Bob...

No distortion pedal Scott, just a lot of Drive/Gain.

As for settings Lindsay,
-Bass en Treble all the Way up. Mids scooped.
-BRT/Lo/Hi switch pushed in
-Midrange frequency on 1

Drive for about 90% open
Gain for about 60% open.

Now that's what I call tone! Philip, I'm amazed you have the bass all the way up; not only does it not sounds like it but if I even have my bass knob half way up using my Rics my Aguilar threatens to hurl itself across the room. I use an Ashdown ABM500. Just goes to show; I've briefly used an SVP Pro and it didn't sound anything like that when I played through it!

Philip, I run my SVT 3 Pro settings very similarily - not quite as much treble and not the brite switch - and get a very similar tone.

Thanks, Philip. I had a very similar experience to Shaun and now use an Ashdown EVO II preamp. I still have the SVP, though; this weekend I'll dust it off and see what happens. Does your 4001 still have the cap in it?

Bob, please! I was alluding to the Ric that got away, sir! Don't bother me with details like "you have another one", I can hear that logic at home! ;-)

Funny,, I just listened to my "recorded" sound and it sounds very similar. (Sansamp RBI)

Why is it that the sound coming from your amp sounds differently???

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

I almost took what you said to read that you were now 4001-less... for a second there, I thought that BBR made you a 4004 convert and you offed the others!
