...and James Burton. He's pretty much had only three main guitars, the red Tele he played up until Elvis bought him the paisley, which he played up through the early 90's when he started using the Fender signature model with those skanky Lace-Sensor p/ups. YUCKO! I want the old James tone back!!

Yeah I've seen photos from this promo session before. Can anyone confirm he actually used one on stage though? Not to be, um, picky or anything...

Per 'Six Decades Of The Fender Telecaster' (Tony Bacon), that's not where that tele came from...

I've never seen pictures of him with a Ric other than in those photos. It's probably like that promo photo of the Byrds for Fender holding those Fender Coronado guitars!

As to unusual tuner mods; Rogers' 3rd 370-12, ca. 1970[which he has apparently been using again recently?] ,he retro fitted That one with an even weirder tuner setup[gold plated as well]; 1 set of ca. early 70s gold Schaller full size M-6 , and 1 set US made gold Grover Imperials[w/"stairstep" buttons],which faced backwards.
Very odd setup,that made for some neck heaviness for sure.Recent photos of that guitar show it with a std set of12 chrome Schaller M-6 mini tuners.

However recent the pic I saw of Roger with it[I thought it had been posted by someone here on the Forum the last couple months or so?]was,I believe it Did look to have the hi-gains on it, as well as a traditional 5 knob 360-370 pickguard/knob setup.Question is, Did Roger have Rickenbacker fix up that guitar[new guard/controls, Schaller minis, maybe a refin?]

Doesn't that guitar also have the open channels on the headstock for easier access to the keywinds? The way Ric is making all non-vintage 12ers now...

Don, I thought it had been re-done on the 80's sometime before his limited edition guitar came out, yes. The pics floating around seem to support that.

Steve, IIRC he had the headstock channels routed through back in the 70's, not sure exactly when though.

John, if anyone can get some good shots of him from late 70s with McGuinn, Clark and Hillman,this might prove the timeline of "seethrough slots".I think it was After mid 70s, anyway.I saw MCH live in '79, though it was a bit disappointing; Gene Clark announced at the beginning of the show that the airlines had lost/delayed their luggage[guitars included! Grrr!!] and they were all playing"alternative" axes supplied last minute by a local store; Roger had NO 12 string[Rick, or otherwise] and was playing instead, a custom exotic hardwood Schecter Strat!!!Sorry, folks, but Byrd tunes Must have a 12..........

I got the chance to see one of Roger's 12's at the Rock Hall of Fame several years ago and the piece that stuck out for me was the really heavy duty 12-saddle bridge that was on the guitar. I really liked the "solid" look of this bridge and wondered where Roger had it made. Anybody have any further info on this bridge?

I think that is a Schaller bridge.
