Kayenbacker on ebay

Post by dminer »

This Kay/Rick clone just popped up on ebay. I never knew that Kay made a 4001 copy.

The pickups look somewhat like mid 80's Peavey PU's. Clapton once played a Kay, I am surprised they are not more sought after.
He walked out to face his arch-enemies with his arch-supporters.

Saw a guy in a club last week playing a '50's Kay. Sounded great. He had put Filtertrons on it. He was an excellent guitarist, to boot. Very original.

I met a guy here in Lima who used to own a Univox Ric copy.

I have a frankenbass (found in the dumpster outside my apartment) with the neck from a Kay Ric copy badly bolted onto the body of a cheap 60's six-stringer (still has a pickup with six polepieces). A horrible, horrible, instrument that I only still own because I could not in good conscience inflict it on anyone else. And the neck is short scale.
My basses are Rickenbackers. My synthesizers and recording gear are analog.

Gone, gosh and I was thinking of buying it and do a "Kenny" with it.
Is everybody ready?
