Attention Sansamp Fans!

Post by cheyenne »

As a big RBI fan myself, I noticed that their now producing the "RPM" which has an improved mid section.

Any reviews? Im thinking of taking the plunge.

In the Snakes and Arrows tourbook Geddy lists the RPM instead of the RBI he's endorsed in the past. It's possible he thinks it an improvement, that jazz needs all the help it can get to equal that rick. I'm going to stick with the RBI, it sounds great with the Little Mark II.

Here's a dumb question. What does "scooping" refer to as far as midrange, etc.? Does that mean cranking the mid controls down or up?

Down. On a graphic eq it would look like a cross-section of a scoop.

Not the thing to do with flats, A great idea with rounds. IMHO

I've used the RBI for about 3-4 years now and never had any problem getting mids from my Rics or my Jazz basses.

I should elaborate on my post. I meant scooping mids with flats is not the thing to do. I hope it wasn't misconstrued as a slap at SansAmp.

I believe the sansamp pedal version has a reputation for scooping mids and can't be EQ'd since it has no mid control. The RBI rack version does not have this reputation, but does have a mid control, go figure.

Well, what ever he's doing is an improvement through the FOH. His bass had much more definition on this current tour than it has in the past 3-4 tours. I thought it sounded really cool.

The mids can be adjusted on the pedal, for more mids, keeping their relative positions the same, turn down the bass and treble controls, for less mids turn bass and treble up.

I've never had a problem with how much of the mids the Sansamp BDDI pedal takes out of the signal. My amp and / or a PA can make up for it. I get compliments on my tone all the time.
