Roy said - Quite hard this unless you're from UK of course, so a little clue between 1960 and 1985 this act had 8 movie credits.
Easy for a 60 year old Brit! He was also well known for a TV series. It was before I started buying records (or could afford to do so). The first record I bought was The Cruel Sea by the Dakotas. I also bought a record by this artist's backing group.

Even though the song is just a little early for me (I was only 6 years old in 1960 ), I was reasonably sure of his identity from the description given. Hearing the song confirmed it.
I can recall some of his work on Australian radio but the names of the songs are proving difficult. But he was more widely known for his TV series.
Apparently he has not been seen for some years!!

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.
A bit off-topic, but somehow related anyway... as some of you may know, i am a big fan of puzzles but, with poor knowledge, i sometimes use internet sources to help me, such as AMG. The typical algorithm is, i choose one or two acts as "likely guesses", and then there's a "listen" function there (short clips which i may listen to and decide whether the voice does sound similar to the voice on the record or not), and a "Similar artists" section which may be also helpful.
Soooo... yes, going by that algorithm, choosing a "guess" and then going through "Similar artists" part, i came upon a page by the artist discussed here, but, as it always happens with those who play unfair, one of the clips represented in "Listen" section was exactly a clip from the song posted here. So, now i know for sure who the artist is, but i don't think that counts...

Nothing will get you dead quicker than being deadly serious about yourself.

The more I learn about this act, the more impressed I am. Some stories make me wonder what could possibly hold me back if I really wanted something strongly enough...
Here is where I hide my music:

Sounds honest to me Sheena, you didn't tip any of us off here and that's what counts. If I need to learn something I'll do anything in my power to learn it and frequently use the internet, and I'm stumped of course, haha! In fact I tried to figure out the name of it from the song to try to track it down by the internet.
Roy will break the news this Saturday morning, James.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Few entries but perhaps too hard, Mark,Brian and Peter of course managed to spot the singer in question was Adam Faith.
AF chalked up 23 top 40 hits in UK including two number 1's of which the track in question Poor Me was one. He turned to acting and had a very successful career as a TV star for a while, he made a number of films some as the star some as CO-Star, though most probably never were show in States.
