330DCM with checkered binding.

Post by 8mileshigh »

I recently got a 330DCM - I love it - but keep thinking, how cool would it look with checkered binding Image

Should I do it? Your opinions please guys.....................

Dbl. bind it front and back with checkered/white binding and do the neck with CP inlays and binding. I recently did one just like this and it looks gorgeous. You will also have to do a complete refinish.

How would you match the DCM paint?

Dale, without giving away any trade secrets....what's a ballpark price for such a conversion (checkerboard front and back, crushed pearl, refin and I assume neck binding and new frets)? I'd probably take care of the guards, wiring and reassembly myself. I've been kicking around the idea of picking up a 330/12 and having something like that done to it (probably jetglow).

Why wouldn't you just start with a regular 330 if you intended to refinish it anyway?

Graham, I'd have to agree with Mark.

Not only a regular 330, but it would be best to find a beater - One that needed a refinish anyway.

This one was a beater bought off Ebay..I started with only the body then turned it into this for $1,125.00:

There is a Body/Neck only 330 on Ebay at this present time. It has issues such as cracked body and loose bracing, but it would be the perfect donor for such a project. I agree with you Mark, why turn a DCM into a refinished/rebound guitar.

It's a 360 Capri with DBL. Binding, Checkered on front and back. I also turned it into a 12 string. Gold Guards and T R cover. Just a spare time project I started 2 years ago. I haven't decided what color to do it, but I don't own any Black Guitars, so maybe it'll be Jetglo.
