What's In Your CD Player?

Post by wmthor »

I'm getting ready for a 3,000 mile road trip and just rotated the CD's in my F-150. The current selection includes Allison Krauss, Martina McBride, The Greencards, Dave Sugarbeet, Hautewerk, and the Shamus Twins (gee I wonder where those last two came from).

Also have an XM radio and an iPod to keep me company.

I've been spinning Jet's new CD Shine On a lot recently. White Strips and the Racoteurs (sp?) are added into the mix as well.

I usually play stuff directly from my computer, but on a road trip I pack up some Queensrÿche, Rush, KT Tunstall, Coldplay, John Mayer Trio, Mercyful Fate and probably a couple U2 cd's. But that's just me.

I've been playing alot of "The Slip" lately (awesome fretless bass player and a great jam band), and also going back in time to "Chicago Live at Carnegie Hall" from 1971 (4-CD set...love that Terry Kath!).

Lately, the Bravery, the Blue Van, and now the Lovin' Spoonful's Day Dream album. Mostly though I just use my iPod with an FM transmitter since I put all CD's on it within about a week of purchase.

Sky Blue Sky by Wilco, King of America by Elvis Costello, a Neil Young compilation I made myself about two years ago, and a great kids CD called The Bottle Let Me Down...my three-year-old demands it, and it beats Raffi and Barney and the Disney troops anyday.
How much!?!

Sounds like a taxing journey, Richard. I would take the complete works of the Shadows if I was leaving today.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Currently in my car I've got a Beatles compilation (who woulda thought?), a CD of assorted Rick 12 string songs, a Lynyrd Skynyrd compilation, an AC/DC compilation, /b{Steppenwolf 7}, Brother by Cry Of Love, a Pink Floyd compilation, an Aerosmith compilation, Straight Up by Badfinger, and a CCR compilation.
Ka is a wheel.
