Hey, I told you that anything is possible and that I hope you did get a personal reply!!! So I went and took the time to discover that you most likely DID, ya big Goombah Image Image

Here is hoping that if he cannot come to the 76th, that he will send some promotional collateral or something from his own corporation that I could tote along on the plane, like autographed FOOW-rerelease posters or such Image

As I said earlier, I think it is wonderful that he answers his own email! And, that as much as he appreciates those who love his music, he also shows that appreciation by sharing some of his own lifetime in writing responses to us.

It is more that just good marketing and promotion, it really reflects what all the articles over the years have said about Chris Squire, that he is an open, honest, likeable fellow who does not put on "airs" or display a vast ego like so many of his stature do. He knows and is secure in the fact that he is the greatest bass player alive today, and can go on from there and be a "real" person to others that are nowhere near his stature and certainly his vast wealth and success. He has been said to have his own studio in a home in Virginia Water, Runnymede, Surrey as well.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and sit in with the band whenever you can, to keep your chops up!

LOL!

"ya big Goombah"

Heheheheheheheheheheh

You got the "BIG" right Elys!

I don't know how to exactly put it into words, but Chris IS the reason I play bass today. He is probably THE reason I love Rickenbackers like I do, and he IS the one that has influenced my playing style.

When someone, ANYONE sparks a life changing direction in a person, THAT is to be commended. A mentor isn't a strong enough word, but I can't think of one better at this moment. I would just like to one be able to tell him face to face, over a cold one...THANKS....and get a picture with him! Image

I can't believe you all thought that I was posting an automated response. Just to let you know, I have taken the time to read each and every email I have received from those of you that emailed me.

And, yes, thanks to Scotty, my wife who has helped me get into the world of the computer literate, I am now able to cut and paste. But I did take the time to type everyone's names. That was a lot of work!

Thanks to Elys for the links to the site. I was looking at a different Ric site before.

It's great reading the messages here.

Likewise, Chris. Welcome. It's truly a privilege. Add me to the "He's why I play a Ricki!" list.

Remember when cutting & pasting actually involved glue? aaahh...

LOL!

Read Chris' profile!

Chris didn't have to settle for a 4001 Chris Squire Limited Edition when he has the REAL DEAL...but, I'm happy with my Limited Edition!

"My own"

Yes - very nice! Wish I had thought of that one. I'll have to steal that line (among other Squire lines) in the future.

Hey guys, I told you to have faith, and if we all got lucky, Chris would join and post! Yippee Image

Welcome Chris, you will be amazed I hope with what you will find among the people on this site, their knowledge, sincerity, maturity and deep regard for music and those who make music with Rickenbacker instruments.

And I trust you will never find another group who have anywhere near the regard and appreciation for your impressive body of work and talent with your RM1999 (and your other basses) as the members of this Forum have for your work, Chris Image

Heck, we even include John Hall in that crowd, believe it or not, he is a very prolific poster here too (hi John! Image )

WELCOME CHRIS SQUIRE!!!! Image

Elys,

"maturity"?

You obviously weren't referring to me, were you?

Lets not lay it on too thick, OK? Image

Welcome Chris! Glad you stopped by and I hope you can come by once in a while when your schedule allows. You'll find us to be the nerds of Rickenbacker! Anyway, long life and health to you. Give Scotty a kiss from all of us here for all her efforts as your IT manager. Image

Maybe a question - how high off the frets do you have the strings setup? After viewing some of the Yes Symphonic DVD and hearing the totally clean and clear tone you get, I've been wondering.

Lastly, we all had so much fun last year at the Rick 75th, how about coming back for the SoCal 2007 Confluence get-together coming August 24-26? You would be warmly welcomed and never have to buy a drink, that's for sure!

John I extended the invite in an email... and I am really hoping he decides to take a little break from his work, he said he would contact John Hall to see what was going on...one can only hope.. although if he decides to keep working I am sure we will all understand. But then again if he makes an appearance... what on earth would I say??? Probably something corny and embarrassing...
