Lighthearted Fun

Post by johnallg »

With all the serious posts around here lately, I was off to YouTube looking for fun. I found some Yes vids, then Chris Squire vids, then after viewing Yes' Into the Lens I looked at the Buggles "I am a Camera", which led to 'Video Killed the Radio Star" (great song and vid BTW), which led to a version on a theremin. Go to YouTube and search Theremin and the fun begins! All kinds of songs, all on a theremin.

Thanks, JA... I'll check it out tonight. When I was in SF last year I went to see the John Ashfield Band. Following them was a band that featured a guy on 'lead theremin'...... bloody amazing stuff!! Image

If I could get a half decent one here (ie. not your ****** $99 kit jobbie) I'd buy it!

Hmmmm..... wonder if anybody in LA and environs sells them...... August is nigh! Image

You can get a Moog kit from AMS for $330, and they have a S&D one in stock for $290.

Get it and we'll all have at it after a couple rounds of Bottles!! Image

OK..... they don't ship internationally, so who's going to put their hand up to take delivery and bring it to SoCal? Image

Can you imagine a bunch of half-drunks foolin' around with this thing at 2am?? Image

Speaking of "Video killed...", i always liked this version.

I can. Almost every weekend at my friends house.
No, I don't play the sax.

Serious to the point of sending an email to AMS, John. Depending on their response I may go ahead with it.

If I buy it I'll include the optional gig bag. My thoughts are these, John:

1. AMS ship it to you.
2. You bring it to SoCal '07 or ship it to someone who can.
3. We make fools of ourselves trying to play the flippin' thing!
4. We give up in frustration and have another beer and/or cigar.
5. I take it home with me - never to be played again.
6. I sell it here for $200 more than it cost me...... nyuk nyuk!! Image

I'm not worried about the voltage.... I have a couple of 240v to 110v transformers here at home.

Could be a bit of a hoot, eh? Image

Sounds like a really fun deal! One rule to make - anyone has to have at least a couple drinks in them before we let anyone try it! Image
