Bringing Ampeg and Markbass together...

Ah, feel the love! Image
I had a chance to use this little combo over the weekend playing on the street at a Celtic festival. The Markbass has a real presence that sits nicely in the mix - very distinctive!

I should add that although Mark and I are showing our Markbass heads with small speakers, they can certainly handle larger speaker cabinets, (300W @8ohms, 500W @4ohms). Most of my playing these days is with small combos or theatre gigs, but I would definitely look into a 2X10 (or larger) cabinet if need be.

Nice mini rig Steve, a lot of people are using the Markbass amps with two 12's or 10's if they need more power. Some people are on the fence as far as using Markbass cabs but the heads are definitely good stuff. I've got an Eden 2x12 cab that sounds really good with the Little Mark II if I need 500 watts.

I have been on the fence about getting a MB amp, but I am a bit concerned about getting them serviced once the 2 year GC warranty runs out. Anybody have an answer to that?

In the running are the F1, SD800 and that lovely amp you have there, Steve, the LMK. Are the Speakon connectors able to accept 1/4" plugs like they claim?

I was an Ashdown ABM user for years. I saw the light (and they are light !!) and swapped to Markbass. A Little Mark 2 with a 1 x 12" Markbass cab. Amazing, quite often play small venues with just the backline, but I just take a channel on the PA if more power is required. Great great sound, small, light, powerful and reliable. What more do you want ? I sometimes hook up my Ashdown ABM 2 x 10 as well if playing a marquee/large venue. How loud does it need to be on stage ? Preserve yours and your bandmates ears!

I like my own side of the stage for that reason, I can't stand a guitar blasting in my ears, i played with one last week though who had a Super Reverb aimed right at me from the other side of the stage, didn't like it at all especially when he played solos. I try to resist the urge to turn up as most guitarist's think they have the god-given right to be the loudest thing onstage. I don't use SVT's for volume I use them because of the sound (although extra good clean easy volume is nice to have sometimes). I set my volume right at the beginning of the night and try to stay there all night although that does not always work. I always need to hear everyone onstage while I play.

Ive been using Two ampeg single 15 classic cabs with my 72 SVT head . I really love the tone and portability. The 15's sound nice and tight and have great responce when you break out the thumb bone . Needless to say , my 8-10 cabs are sheet covered in my garage .
im getting to old for this ****
