Bob, as far as I know, Burgundy and Burgundyglo are the same, in fact, I use the term Burgundyglo, but I don't think it is actually a term used "officially" by Rickenbacker. So you got that split pickguard Burgundy 4003, eh? Have you taken delivery yet?

No Gene, it's going to my fathers house in Ma. first then I'll hopefully figure out how to get it here with out missing my next 4 months rent. (that means no UPS) I think I have found a cheap way, I'll know tomorrow.

According to Ed Roman, the 2004 color is "Baby Blue"

BLEEECCCCCCCCHHHHHH! :P He'd better be lying.... (Especially in light of John Hall's threat to cancel orders for Rics to those dealers who spill the beans, LOL!)

It's on Ed's Rickenbacker page.

Ed Roman - Color Spoiler

I hope Mr. Hall cancels his orders.

In light of the low regard for Rickenbacker onwers/buyers Mr. Roman has expressed in past posts on his very own website, I am of the opinion that his losing the right to offer the RIC line would be nothing more than poetic payback.

I also feel (based on those same comments) that if this does come to pass, Mr. Roman would probably look at it as a "blessing in disguise".

My last bass may very well be a Rickenbacker

Well that's sad on both counts, I was hoping for a very cool color this year and well Ed Roman is Ed Roman what more can you say.

Darn. I still can't believe this. Maybe this is Ed's idea of a really bad joke.... Maybe blueburst in 2005?

Ed Roman has misdescribed colors before but if "baby blue" means Blue Boy, there will be a lot of interest. Not everyone likes bursts or other semitransparent finishes.

Blue Boy is a nice finish and should it be offered in 2004 the factory is set to go with it, having offered this color outside of North America this past year.
Life, as with music, often requires one to let go of the melody and listen to the rhythm

Sorry.... Blue Boy is my LEAST favorite Ric finish.... however, I saw the picture of John Williams' '65 4005 bass on VoxTalks that was refinished at the Ric factory, and it did look cool on that vintage instrument. (Can you put a picture here, Jwilli?) Personally I just don't care for solid light colors.... the only thing worse on a new Ric would be "baby doll pink!"

A few things come to mind..

1. US dealers have know for a little while that the Europe and Japan only Blue Boy finish was going to be offered in the US, but not as a yearly colour.

2. Ed Roman may have got it wrong, he would have been told that the Baby Blue/Blue Boy finish had been added to the finish line, but not as the 2004 colour, and he just jumped the gun and guessed.

3. With Ed Roman saying that Teal Blue/Turquiose has been discontinued, Blue Boy could be a replacement and we could still see a 2004 colour as well.

4. If you check the NAMM report on Rickenbacker Japan website, the finish is called Baby Blue. (But spelt wrong Bady Blue)
