Gee, I always thought of the Jazzmaster as a classy and classic guitar. This puts a stop to that.

J. Mascis may be a good musician (and that's debatable, too...) but good taste he does not have. But if Fender can make a buck, they will sell out; we know that.

And why would you think that way Paul?

Mascis wanted his signature Jazz look a little different from the normal off the mill Jazz. And just tink Fender could just as well hook up with Thurston Moore or Lee Ranaldo to have signature Jazzes.

The Fender Thurtston Moore Jazzmaster would likely be Red with the rythm circuit removed.

In Lee's case that would have resulted into a Jazzmaster with Fender Telecaster Deluxe humbuckers and like Thurston, without the rythem circuit and wired straight into a master volume. Note also that this one appears to have a Kahler vibrato fitted before.

So I think that the J. Mascis Jazz looks way better than the alternatives...

God, if my bandmate sees this purple beast it will end up on stage next to me! Purple guitars are reprehensible (except for Melibee's Image ).

I think it's repulsive, but not because of the finish, but because of the model itself. Hideous!

I like it. Purple and gold is a popular color combination around here.
Listen to that sustain!

Huh. I can't believe I don't hate it.

I wouldn't buy it, because there's a ton of Jazzmaster colors i'd rather have before this one, but yeah. Don't hate it.

I'll go with metalflake on a guitar for tradition's sake. I will admit that there's a Lime Gold 'Flake Dick Dale Strat stuffed in my storage closet, right next to my Hallmark Swept Wing (which, oddly, is Oly White).

The Sparkly Gretsch solids catch my eye, but not my $$$.

Purple flake on a JM, with a gold '58 guard, just offends my eye.

Just goes to show how thoroughly "tasteful" can be bent...
