5002v58 Mandolin Ordered

Post by simer4001 »

I finally did it. I ordered a 5002V58 in Mapleglo today from John at Old Boise Guitar. So who has this model on order? I wonder how long now before they go into production? I am assuming that when mine is ordered they will get to work on them, but I could be wrong.

Yep, you could be wrong.

At Winter NAMM 2007 a dealer sheet was passed around by RIC that indicated that dealers can expect an approximate two-year wait on a 5002v58 Image

Here is the statement made by John Hall about the below sheet on this Forum on June 20th 2007:

"That's a handout we made for the NAMM show, winter 2007."

And here is the handout to which he referred:

You're shooting holes in all my plans there Paul. Truth be told, this was the first time in about 8 years I didn't have anything on order at RIC so I had to do it. Now I have something on order. Just please tell me the MMT will be done before the mandolin comes in. Give me something here Paul. Image

I have one on order, since, hmmm, maybe it was about 12 months ago? Can't quite remember. Anyway, I know of one or two other forumites that also have one on order.

Well, when delivered, you can all get together and do group rendition of "Dance Tonight"! :-)

(...wishing that I had ordered one already too.)

I will probably get in on one after the new COY is announced. That way I figure I'll get in at the end of the list and have a shorter waiting period.

Have had a Fireglo on order since May of '06. Considering getting it refinished in Blue Boy, depending on how nice the maple is.

Talking to John, I've been quite tempted to pull the trigger on one, as well. I like the MG, myself.

Do it! In fact, John said he was going to order a "few".

Brad, don't hold your breath. I haven't been following the blah blah blah so I may be way off base here, but it wouldn't surprise me if they skip it in 08 too.

I know this is sacrilege, but I opted to buy a Phantom Guitar Works Mandoguitar last year. It's a surf green one, a twin to a custom-order by Chris Martin of Coldplay (Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow). I'm anything but a Coldplay fan, but it's a very cool looking instrument. I haven't taken the time to get comfortable with the fingerboard, but it's a great addition to my gear collection.
