It was recorded at a local(Austin,TX) performing arts high school, in their great-sounding auditorium. The orchestra was invited to play MSG and asked us to play their fund-raiser to pay for the trip.

Hi Ronn,

First post here and I just wanted to say that the video and rendition are Excellent.

The only thing that I noticed that I would change would be the drummer's intro. Let me start with a story before I go into detail.

There was always something about Ringo's drumming that looked unique. For years I could not put my finger on it but I finally figured it out. Ringo is left-handed but plays a right-handed kit. What I (a very bad drummer, but I understand "drumming") and most right-handed drummers do is to lead off a drum fill with our strong hand, the right. (I know... it depends on the drum fill, but this is MOST of the time.) It was while watching the Walrus clip on the Anthology videos recently that I noticed Ringo leading off with his Left hand. (Looking back to having seen Bangladesh in the theater on first release, there was a part where Ringo and Jim Keltner were playing the same fill. Both were shown in the same shot, but it looked different... I would love to see that again because I bet Jim leads off right while Ringo leads off left.)

On the MMT Walrus video, Ringo leads off with a four-note fill, all snare, with his left hand, then does a three-note fill: left hand on the ride tom followed by two more on the snare.

On to your video: I notice that your drummer does not hit the ride tom at all; he does all shots on the snare.

Wow, Ronn that sounded Great. Must be one of the best experiences of your life to be up there playing that song with a full string section, directed by someone who gets it. Really an excellent version. Dean's first post was really pretty good! But I also like your drummer--your interpretation was better than the other versions I've seen, included that much vaunted band that did it on a late night talk shoe (Sullivan pronunciation there) not long ago...they were good, but I like yours better. How cool that you're a lefty... Thanks!

Mark1, The first chair cello did the arrangement.
Mark2, Oh..I just remembered who you were referring to.

It is a lot of fun when we play with an orchestra, rubbing shoulders with "real" musicians. We often play with a string quartet, as is the case for the shows this week, but the power of a whole orchestra is pretty amazing.
