Jeff - Friday night, Martini Park, 151 W. Erie. 8-midnight. Three 45 minute sets.
Steve - Come as you Are does sound cool. I wouldn't mind replacing Teen Spirit in the set list!
Harry, I'm glad things worked out too! You know where to go if you want to unload the black beauty......
Thanks to everyone. I'm basically retired to the world of playing covers now (the money is great!) and it's interesting to see how an 8 works on some stuff, from Green Day to Bon Jovi to Alice in Chains. I use it for about a quarter of the set so far.

It's actually possible to get the action a bit lower with the "common" string arrangement since the octave string can now be lowered to the same heighth off the fingerboard as the fundamental string. The "stock" string arrangement meant that the octavestring had to be a bit higher in order for the top of the string to be level with the fundamental string so you wouldn't miss it while picking downward. With the octave string lower, it won't stretch as much and therefore setting the harmonics will be more accurate. You won't notice the need for separate string saddles as some with the old arrangement have complained.
